French Drains

French drains address the issue of standing water by the use of a trench lined with landscape fabric then a layer of rock and inside of that a perforated pipe. Basically the water seeps into this drain and channels it downhill to a suitable exit point like a storm drain or dry well. Water seeps into the surrounding gravel, enters the pipe through its holes, and flows out to a lower spot, preventing it from building up pressure against foundations or pooling in your yard.
